Well-being

Supporting every student to feel safe, connected and valued, and to belong, participate and flourish.

Wellbeing

The wellbeing of our students is central to school life. We recognise that students are best placed to learn, develop and achieve when they feel safe, supported, connected, included and valued.

A Whole-School Responsibility

Our approach to wellbeing reflects the Department of Education and Youth’s Wellbeing Policy Statement and Framework for Practice and the NCCA’s Wellbeing Guidelines for Junior Cycle, with wellbeing understood as a whole-school responsibility embedded across our culture, relationships, teaching and learning, policies and everyday practices.

Supporting Student Wellbeing

Through our Student Support structures, Junior Cycle Wellbeing programme, pastoral care, SPHE, PE, Guidance and a wide range of student-led and whole-school initiatives, we provide opportunities for students to develop their physical, emotional, social and mental wellbeing. Throughout the year, Wellbeing Awareness Days, themed activities, campaigns and initiatives provide additional opportunities to promote healthy choices, positive relationships, resilience, connection and self-care.

Listening & Improving

Wellbeing is also an important part of our School Self-Evaluation (SSE) and school improvement planning, with a wellbeing strand incorporated into our SSE priorities. We regularly reflect on our practice, listen to student voice and use evidence to identify ways in which we can further support the wellbeing of our students and our whole school community.

Our aim is to create a school environment where every student can belong, participate, flourish and reach her potential.
