Student Council

The work of the Student Council aligns strongly with the principles of the LAOS framework, particularly in promoting student voice, wellbeing, inclusion, active citizenship, and meaningful participation in school life.

We placed the theme of Connections at the heart of our Council for this school year.

This theme highlights the importance of building strong relationships both within our school and throughout the wider community. By nurturing trust, belonging, and collaborative spirit, we wanted to create a school environment where every student feels valued and empowered to succeed. We decided to focus on practical ways to strengthen these connections, extending learning and engagement beyond our classroom walls.

Throughout the year, students engaged in a wide range of activities and initiatives, including a visit to Áras an Uachtaráin and Galway City Council, advocacy work with school management, contributions to School Self Evaluation, wellbeing initiatives such as Board Buddies, community engagement projects such as the Bring Cillian Home campaign, cultural celebrations and fundraising for charitable causes. These experiences provided valuable opportunities for students to develop leadership skills, strengthen community connections, and make a positive contribution both within the school and beyond.
