Meet Our Alumnae

  • My path to dentistry wasn’t a straight line. After my Leaving Cert in 1992, I studied Science, then found my way to Trinity College Dublin for Dental Hygiene in 2000.

    That experience led me to pursue Dentistry, and I qualified in 2010. I later completed a Master’s in Aesthetic Dentistry at King’s College London. I am the owner of Azure dental practice in Blackrock, Co. Dublin.

  • Yoga Mara exists to provide a safe space that allows you to reconnect with yourself and awaken your awareness to the possibility of a more fulfilled you. Yoga Mara aims to bring balance and calm back into people's lives through mindful movement, meditation and breathwork. Through the convenience of their online classes, their friendly in-person classes and their luxurious escapes,

    While working as a primary school teacher, Rachel taught mindfulness techniques and yoga to young children in her class, noticing a significant progress in the children’s levels of concentration and confidence. Rachel’s passion for teaching and helping others has transcended beautifully into how she leads and holds space for others during Yoga Mara yoga classes, workshops and escapes. 

    While working as an event planner, Hannah noticed high levels of burnout in her industry and wanted to create a safe space for people to escape to. Whether it’s escaping to a 5 star luxury villa or to a seaside yoga class, the Yoga Mara experience is designed to allow guests to feel safe and cared for as they find ways to reconnect back to themselves. 

  • My time at Salerno from 2003 - 2008 played an important role in shaping who I am today. Looking back, I am incredibly grateful for the education, encouragement and sense of community I experienced. 

    After leaving Salerno, I studied Medicine at the University of Galway. I went on to complete my internship and basic specialist training in the HSE West and North-West health region. Along the way, I completed a Master's Degree in Healthcare Ethics and Law at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, followed by a Postgraduate Diploma in Health Professions' Education at University College Cork. I completed my specialist training in Palliative Medicine, a speciality I was drawn to because of its holistic, person-centred approach to care, in July 2023. 

    Today, I am a Consultant in Palliative Medicine based at Milford Care Centre, Limerick and the HSE Mid-West. My role involves caring for patients with life-limiting illnesses across the acute hospital, hospice and community settings, while working closely with multidisciplinary teams to support patients and their families to ensure they receive the best possible care. 

    Although Galway will always be home, I am happily settled in Limerick with my husband and our young daughter. Family life has brought a new perspective and balance to my career, and I feel incredibly fortunate to combine meaningful work with raising a family.

    Reflecting on my journey to date, I can see that every step along the way, whether planned or unexpected, has helped me grow both personally and professionally. I hope current and future Salerno students embrace every opportunity available to them, remain curious, and never underestimate the value of kindness, resilience and hard work. 

  • From Salerno to Trusted Advisor

    I left Salerno with a belief, instilled in me by my wonderful teachers, that I could be anything I wanted to be. I didn't know exactly what that would be, but an early interest in accountancy led me to study for a B.Comm at the University of Galway (UCG) before training in accountancy and tax with a Big Four firm.

    After qualifying, I realised I wanted to be closer to the action—working directly with entrepreneurs, business owners and families as they navigated the defining moments in their businesses and lives. That led me into strategic tax and private client advisory and, ultimately, to L&J Tax, where I'm proud to be a partner alongside a great friend.

    Today, I have the privilege of advising entrepreneurs, family businesses and private clients on business growth, acquisitions and business sales, succession planning and family wealth. What I enjoy most is building long-term relationships with clients and helping them make confident decisions at pivotal moments. Every client, every family and every business has a unique story, and being trusted to help shape the next chapter is both a responsibility and a privilege.

    Looking back, my career has taken me in directions I could never have imagined when I walked out of the gates of Salerno. The confidence to embrace new opportunities, the belief that I could make a positive difference, and the importance of building lasting relationships are all values that began there and have stayed with me throughout my career.

  • Anne took up the role of CEO of the HSE on Monday March 23rd, 2026. Having trained and worked as an Occupational therapist in the UK prior to commencing her career with the Irish Health Service, she has since worked in a wide variety of clinical and management roles. 

    Anne has worked at a National Director Level in the HSE from 2014 when she took on the role of National Director Mental Health. In early 2018 she became the first National Director for Community Operations and was within a few months appointed Deputy Director General/ Chief Operations Officer in May 2018, leading the National Senior Operations team. 

    From March 2020 she led the HSE’s national operational response to the COVID pandemic and the Conti Cyber Attack of 2021. 

    Anne joined the Vhi in August 2022 as Managing Director of VHI Health & Wellbeing DAC and subsequently also took on the role of interim Group Healthcare Officer. In this role she led the development and delivery of healthcare services to Vhi members.

    Anne left Vhi to take up the role of CEO of the HSE in March 2026.

    Anne is a Board member of the Governing Authority of the University of Limerick and of Páirc an Chrócaigh CTR (Croke Park).  
    My first accounting role was with a multinational company, which gave me an excellent foundation for my career. I then worked as Financial Controller for a number of start-up technology and medical device companies in Galway, where I gained valuable experience in fast-paced and innovative environments. For the past 16 years, I have been the Business Manager and Accountant for a private radiology group, a role that I continue to enjoy every day.


    I have always appreciated the education and encouragement I received in Salerno and the lifelong friends I made there who are still at my side today. I am very grateful for the part Salerno played in the journey to a career that has been both rewarding and fulfilling.

  • After completing my Leaving Certificate in 1988, I went on to study Business Studies in RTC Galway (now ATU) before qualifying as an accountant. Looking back, my career path was very much influenced by an inspiring business teacher Margie Connolly in my first year in Salerno that sparked my interest in business and accounting. Her enthusiasm for the subject had a lasting impact on me and ultimately helped shape the career I chose. It was always the subject on the timetable I looked forward to the most.

  • Claire Rigney graduated from Salerno Secondary School in 2000 before training in Cork, where she earned a QQI Level 6 qualification in Dance, and later at Bodywork Company Dance Studios in Cambridge, where she received a Diploma in Dance.

    Claire went on to enjoy an international career as a professional dancer in musical theatre, television and film, with credits including West Side Story, Grease, Disney’s Disenchanted, HBO’s Penny Dreadful and Bollywood productions.

    After returning home to Ireland, Claire established Phoenix Stage School in Galway. Fifteen years later, she still loves helping young people discover confidence, creativity and a love of performing. Her motto in life is, “What you put in, you get back,” a philosophy she encourages all of her students to embrace.
