Bí Cineálta
A safe, welcoming and inclusive school community where every student can learn, belong and thrive.
Bí Cineálta
We are committed to creating a school community where every student feels safe, respected, included and valued. Our approach to preventing and addressing bullying behaviour is guided by the Department of Education and Youth’s Bí Cineálta Procedures, which place kindness, respect, inclusion and student wellbeing at the heart of school life.
Be Kind
Bí Cineálta means “Be Kind” and reflects our shared responsibility as a school community. Students, staff, parents/guardians and the wider school community all have an important role to play in creating an environment where bullying behaviour is not tolerated and where students feel confident to speak up and seek support.
A Positive School Culture
Our approach focuses not only on responding when bullying behaviour occurs, but also on prevention and creating a positive school culture. This includes promoting respectful relationships, student voice and participation, positive behaviour, equality and inclusion, as well as addressing behaviours that may occur both in person and online, including cyberbullying, racist or sexist bullying, gender identity bullying and sexual harassment.
Speak Up & Seek Support
Students are encouraged to tell a trusted adult if they are experiencing or witnessing bullying behaviour. Concerns are taken seriously and addressed in accordance with our school’s Bí Cineálta Policy and the Department of Education and Youth procedures, with appropriate support provided to students involved.
Through Bí Cineálta, we work together to ensure that Salerno remains a safe, welcoming and inclusive place where every student can learn, belong and thrive.
