IRISH GIRL GUIDES
The members of the senior section of the Irish Girl Guides. As part of the Eco-UNESCO Youth Climate Justice Challenge, are running a social media campaign raising awareness of the negative effects of fast fashion on the environment. They are asking for your support through sharing their Instagram posts from 12th-19th November, at the handle @galwaycityseniorbranch.
They have chosen to target fast fashion because:
Ø It produces an estimated 1.2 billion tons of CO2 each year
Ø It’s the worlds second highest water consumer. It takes 2,650 litres of water to produce one cotton t-shirt!
Ø It introduces more plastics into the worlds oceans resulting in large numbers of micro-plastics and harming marine life
Ø It is the second most polluting industry, after oil
Your support is greatly appreciated.
Yours in Guiding,
Galway City Senior Branch
