You can find more details and register using this link.

Social Exclusion

38% of our teenagers reported the experience of being rejected by their friends.  This is at 45% for girls and 28% for boys, and the teenagers that reported this experience show significantly different correlations across all mental wellbeing indicators.   They also show higher rates of absenteeism from school, and increased rates for substance use behaviours.

1 This was an important finding from the November 2024 Planet Youth survey.  5,079 15- and 16-year-old teenagers participated in this survey, from all 90 schools and centres in the West of Ireland.  The latest Planet Youth reports are available on the website here.

Bí Cineálta are the new national procedures to prevent and address bullying behaviour for primary and post-primary schools, and are most welcome. Social exclusion is a problem that extends far beyond the ability of schools to address fully however, and is part of the reason the Social Exclusion webinar has been organised.
