Salerno U17 Soccer team finalists 2026

Congratulations to coaches Dan Stephens and Conor Killeen and the Salerno U17 girls soccer team who are through to the FAI Junior Girls National Cup Final following a 2-0 win over Loreto, Letterkenny in Ray McSharry Park, Sligo yesterday 23rd February.

Holly O’Leary opened the scoring pouncing on a rebound from the active Letterkenny Goalkeeper. Salerno struggled in the period after their opener to get a grip on possession with many turnovers and dispossessions being uncharacteristic of this side. The introduction of Grace Coyle in the second half shifted the momentum back to the Galway side with her direct running and enthusiasm to get on the end of cutbacks rewarded in her deft tap in at the back post from a Tilly Carroll cross.

Salerno now await the result of Thursday's Semi Final to see who they will play in the All Ireland Final, a 3rd in a row for many of this age group. That match is set to be played on the 11th of March.
